Calix (News - Alert), Inc recently announced the availability of the 726GE-I indoor optical network terminal (ONT). The newly introduced 726GE-I, which now delivers RF video to Calix's portfolio of indoor ONTs, has been designed to offer communications service providers with the required flexibility to effectively utilize RF headends when providing their customers with advanced fiber access services.
This new release from Calix will further expand its comprehensive portfolio of ONTs. The Calix suite of fiber access solutions which enjoy huge popularity across North America, has seen rapid growth in deployment demands from customers across the globe and recently passed the one million subscriber milestone. At present, Calix has more than 750 fiber access customers across the globe.
In a statement, Mike Thomas, national operations manager at Optical Solutions Australia, a leading Calix solutions partner, said that, "In Australia, we have historically deployed outdoor ONTs with RF video. We face a variety of temperature extremes from the tropics of the north to the outback deserts in Western Australia. With the introduction of the 726GE-I ONTs with RF video, we now have the ability to enhance our triple play fiber solutions by bringing the fiber access network in to the conditioned environment of the home, and opening up a wide array of new opportunities in the business and residential markets."
As an increasing number of service providers make the shift to fiber access networks, indoor ONTs from Calix which also includes the new 726GE-I essentially serve to improve delivery of video, voice, and ultra-high speed data services for subscribers. Additionally, they provide users with new avenues for generating revenue while also benefiting from substantial reduction in cost of supporting in-home networks. Similar to all models in the 700GE ONT family, the newly introduced 726GE-I has also been designed to provide support to home gateway options via a simple download.
The 726GE-I and recently introduced Compass (News - Alert) Consumer Connect application of Calix work together to ensure that cost of deploying and managing fiber access networks for service providers is minimized.
