ADVA Optical Networking, a provider of intelligent telecommunications infrastructure solutions, announced that DE-CIX (News - Alert), an Internet Exchange, has selected the ADVA FSP 3000 to connect its core Frankfurt data centers with multiple 100G Metro channels.
It will be deployed by AXIANS Germany to enable DE-CIX to migrate from its10G services to 100G.
This migration is critical for DE-CIX as it responds to continued increases in data traffic. Currently transporting over 2Tbit/s of peak Internet traffic, DE-CIX plans to increase further from here.
The FSP 3000 is a scalable optical transport solution designed to respond to today’s high-bandwidth demands. For either a service provider or an enterprise, the modular design of FSP 3000 ensures that the networks are built on a flexible WDM foundation. The FSP 3000 represents Optical and Ethernet provisioning for seamless end-to-end connectivity from the access to the metro and on to long haul.
"We're seeing a continuous increase in data traffic with a growth rate of about 80 percent every year – an increase that shows no signs of slowing down," stated Arnold Nipper, CTO at DE-CIX.

As integrated into the ADVA FSP 3000, ADVA Optical Networking's 100G Metro solution is built on 4x28G direct detection technology offering efficiencies like cost, space, power and spectral. These help service providers and enterprises that want 100G solutions in the metro environment, but do not want the associated cost or footprint of coherent technology.
ADVA Optical Networking's 100G Metro solution is a direct response to customers' demands for efficient 100Gbit/s data transport across distances of up to 500km.
