Independent data center operator, Colo5 has announced that it will soon inaugurate a new data center in Lakeland, Florida.
The new $20 million data center in the Lakeland is said to be around 105,000 square feet that supports disaster recovery workspace to be built out in 10,000-square-foot phases during the next three years. The new location will accommodate both retail and wholesale clients and is designed to be more energy efficient than the Jacksonville location, said the company officials.
Doug Recker, CEO of Colo5 said that they have experienced 950 percent growth since 2008 and it’s the right time to expand and capture more businesses that need world class disaster recovery services, full service colocation and cloud services. The new center is scheduled to open in March 2013, servicing the Central Florida market.

Colo5 officials said that they chose Lakeland for its land elevation, access to freeways, power costs, the city's fiber optic networks, and to attract business from Central Florida including cities such as Orlando and Tampa. This new facility will also offer cloud services for both small and enterprise size businesses.
In addition, the Lakeland data center will be SSAE16 certified, offering redundant power and 24/7 year-round support among other facility features.
