XO Communications recently announced that it has implemented the maiden coast-to-coast 100Gbps network with assistance from Equinix (News - Alert) Inc. XO Communications have advantageously utilized Equinix International Business Exchange data centers across the United States for the delivery of 100G services.

The unique countrywide 100G broadband connection between Equinix data centers in Silicon Valley and Washington DC was recently introduced by XO Communications (News - Alert). Public, hybrid and private cloud providers will be offered a 100G channel from Equinix’s data centers that will cover both the coasts. The 100G channel will allow the customers to optimize their network, resulting in augmented performance and decreased latency. The experience for the end users will also be enhanced with the high-speed content distribution offered by the 100G pipe. The 100G channel will also provide customers access to Carrier Business Ethernet services across metros and regions.

In addition, XO is able to propagate its 100G offering to a broader set of customers and penetrate new markets by directly connecting to the robust ecosystems residing in Platform Equinix.”

The 100G service inside Equinix has been implemented by XO Communications in association with Nokia (News - Alert) Siemens Networks and Ciena. XO Communications advantageously utilizes Equinix’s Solution Validation Center to offer customers a pioneering method to test latest technologies.
