An increasing number of healthcare firms are investing in new and advanced technologies, in order to provide patients with quicker and better healthcare facilities and services. However, deployment or augmentation of advanced technologies and to support large critical patient data transfers requires more bandwidth.
A dark fiber infrastructure would be a solution.
Acting along these lines, Atlantic Health System – a not-for-profit healthcare system based in New Jersey – has signed a strategic partnership with New Jersey-based dark fiber optic and telecommunications solutions provider, Cross River Fiber Inc., to integrate a dedicated dark fiber network infrastructure.
As a dark fiber solutions provider and a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier), Cross River Fiber designs, constructs and maintains its own independent fiber-optic network infrastructure.
It currently has approximately 200 miles of fiber throughout New Jersey, servicing companies in healthcare, education, financial services and other verticals.
Expanding its dark fiber network within the healthcare vertical, Cross River Fiber would be providing a new dark fiber-based network infrastructure that will interconnect Atlantic Health System’s Newton Medical Center located in Sussex County with Atlantic Health Systems' primary data center.
According to Atlantic Health System, this implementation is crucial and cost-effective necessity for the future operations of Atlantic's enterprise-wide applications.
"Cross River Fiber provides Atlantic Health Systems with a single-source, secure, reliable and scalable solution," said Vincenzo Clemente, CEO at Cross River Fiber. "Our dark fiber infrastructure seamlessly converges Atlantic's voice, video and data solutions, connecting back office, telecom network, servers and data centers. We are able to provide the organization with critical ultra-low latency, unlimited bandwidth, increased data speed and complete independence, while significantly reducing the overall telecom budget."
Apart from offering dark fiber infrastructure to Atlantic Health System, Cross River Fiber itself has expanded its New Jersey footprint, creating an additional 50+ miles of new fiber.
As a provider of healthcare systems utilizing modern medical technologies, Atlantic Health System offers specialty service areas such as advanced cardiovascular care, pediatric medical and surgical specialties, neurology, orthopedics and sports medicine.
