The QLogic 3200 Series Intelligent Ethernet Adapters provide improved networking performance and dual-port throughput that is equal to 40Gbps. With support for QLogic’s unique NIC (News - Alert) Partitioning feature, the adapters are designed for use in virtualized environments.

With flexible, user-defined allocation of 10Gbps bandwidth, NIC Partitioning allows a user to divide a physical Ethernet port into four virtual ports.

Recently, the company added a 10GBASE-T model to its 3200 Series portfolio of Intelligent Ethernet Adapters. The new QLogic dual-port QLE3242-RJ offers support for SR optics, LR optics, twinaxial (twinax) copper and also twisted pair cabling.

10GBASE-T provides numerous distance and cost advantages, and because of that, this type of cabling is expected to dominate over other forms in the future. With an installed base of countless 1GbE twisted pair switch ports, it provides full backward-compatibility, thus making it simpler for companies to migrate 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) networks, QLogic has stated.

“Based on our widely adopted, battle-tested networking stack, QLogic 10GbE adapters make it easy for customers to migrate to next-generation converged enterprises, virtualized data centers and cloud computing environments," said Amit Vashi, vice president of marketing, Host Solutions Group, QLogic. "The 100 meter range and backward compatibility features of our new 10GBASE-T adapter make it a highly compelling option for organizations that want to leverage their 1GbE RJ45 switch investments and transition easily to 10GbE networks at their own pace.”

Recently, Dell (News - Alert) Force10 completed interoperability testing with a new series of data center network adapters from QLogic. The company announced that the 8200 Series of 10Gb Ethernet converged network adapters and the 3200 Series 10GbE network adapters were completely tested.

They were certified as interoperable with Dell Force10 S-Series S4810 ultra low-latency 10/49 GbE Top-of-Rack switches after the rigorous appraisal.
