As the whole world is eagerly waiting for the third and the final presidential debate to take place, Corning (News - Alert) Cable Systems proudly announced that it is going to be the connectivity provider for this extremely high-profile, high-visibility event with global significance.

Corning Cable Systems, the telecommunication division of Corning Inc.,   has provided the communications capabilities in large venues such as M&T Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, and for events such as Super Bowl XLVI, CTIA (News - Alert) WIRELESS 2012, and multiple venues associated with the 2012 Democratic and Republican national conventions.

On 22nd October, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will discuss foreign policy issues for 90 minutes with CBS’ Bob Schieffer serving as moderator. The event will take place in Lynn University campus, with international students volunteering at the event. The presidential debate will be aired on more than 10 major networks and covered by hundreds of media members. The final debate in the 2008 presidential election was watched by 56.5 million viewers; this year’s event is likely to draw a similar size audience. All these call for a lightning-fast, high volume of bandwidth with proven connectivity. And Corning, with its impressive track record, is well equipped to provide just that.

The new fiber optic network will remain after the debate for the university to use. The network includes FREEDM One indoor/outdoor fiber optic cable, newly designed Closet Connector Housings, UniCam field-installable no-epoxy/no-polish connectors, and a UniCam Connector Installation toolkit.

A recent AT&T Survey, entitled, “Mobile America's Student Vote”  revealed how social media and mobile Internet play an essential role in engaging America's college students. According to the survey, Lynn students are not only willing to participate in political discourse via social media outlets; 58 percent of those surveyed would use smartphones to cast their ballot if "mobile voting" were available.
