Xencode Unveils XenSurvey for Analyzing Cellular Broadband Networks

Xencode, Inc has unveiled a unique Software-as-a-Service or SaaS (News - Alert) network analytics platform, XenSurvey. Several cellular broadband networks can now be assessed, scrutinized and compared with XenSurvey, which merges the suppleness of common Android (News - Alert) smartphones and the scalability of the cloud.

XenSurvey can conduct GPS-precise network surveys in the field by harmonizing off-the-shelf 4G-capable Android devices with a robust, cloud-based administration system. All telecom experts are offered an authoritative, carrier-grade network analytics tool by Xencode and can therefore avoid expenses related to specialty tools.

In a statement, Jim Baker, founder and CEO of Xencode, said, “No cellular data network is perfect; there are gaps in coverage, variances in performance and you need tools to discover these. In the past such test and measurement products have comprised expensive hardware and complicated software. We wanted to create a sophisticated network analysis tool that could be used by any telecoms professional, but which would scale easily from a single engineer to a regional workgroup, or a carrier’s entire engineering organization. Unlike consumer-grade bandwidth testing apps, XenSurvey was designed with the carrier in mind; as detailed performance and quality metrics are collected, they are stored in the cloud, so vital network intelligence can be quickly and easily viewed and shared across the whole enterprise.”

An Android app capable of collecting network metrics along with a cloud-based analytics engine capable of getting, formatting and transforming unrefined data into significant information comprise the XenSurvey offering. Several cellular networks can now be assessed by XenSurvey at the same time by coordinating several Android devices during a particular survey and concurrently providing performance and quality metrics from the operators.

Liz Kerton, president, the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley, said, "As mobile operators deploy the next generation of 4G infrastructure all over the world, it's vital to understand data network performance and quality with a high degree of granularity. Our primary function at the Council is to connect our network of carriers and vendors to the startups with the solutions that fit their needs. With performance intelligence becoming even more important to our network, the Council encourages the engagement of solutions like XenSurvey."
