Broadcom Offering Accelerates Implementation of DOCSIS-based Technology in China

Broadcom (News - Alert) Corporation has released enhancements to its DOCSIS-based Ethernet over Coax or EoC cable architecture. With the inclusion of SARFT or State Administration of Radio, Film and Television certified C-DOCSIS standard compliance, the implementation of DOCSIS-based technology across China will receive a considerable boost. Dependable, rapid and interactive triple play services will now be offered in China through Broadcom's technology, capable of supporting 1 gigabit per second or Gbps broadband speeds, resulting in the launch of latest applications like IPTV (News - Alert).


In a statement, Dan Marotta, EVP and GM, Broadband Communications Group at Broadcom said, "We are pleased to work with leading manufacturers and service providers in China to accelerate China's NGB initiative. With the release of C-DOCSIS as an NGB access standard from SARFT, Broadcom's DOCSIS-based EoC technology enables China's cable operators to accelerate the delivery of triple play services to Chinese subscribers."

Coax Media Converter or CMC, DOCSIS 2.0 and 3.0 cable modem, and set-top box or STB SoC offerings comprise the comprehensive chipset and software solution, DOCSIS-based EoC cable architecture from Broadcom. The recent portfolio of 10G EPON Optical Line Terminal or OLT products and Broadcom's portfolio of GPON chipsets are advantageously utilized by Broadcom offering.

Zhang Changli, president, Research Institute, Wasu Digital TV Media Group said, "As the largest cable operator in Hangzhou with over 1.8 million cable TV subscribers, Broadcom's C-DOCSIS technology allows us to upgrade our networks with standardized solutions that bring new advanced voice, video and data services to our subscribers."

According to Shentu Meiliang, executive president, Hangzhou Lancable Technology Ltd, the organization is using its associate, Broadcom’s offering for creating novel NGB-oriented products for WASU. The organization and Broadcom aim to offer a complete assortment of system solutions to operators, thereby demonstrating technical headship and service superiority in state-of-the-art offerings.

According to Mr. Han Yufa, GM, Access Network at Huawei (News - Alert) Technologies, the organization in association with Broadcom offers the extremely revolutionary cable access solution to Global MSOs.
