Baltimore Technology Park has joined hands with FiberLight (News - Alert) for the provision of a bundled offering of data center colocation services and high-bandwidth connectivity solutions in Washington, D.C.

FiberLight specializes in networking services including Ethernet, Wavelengths and IP, SONET and dark fiber optical transportation.

“FiberLight will provide turnkey transport services to clients of Baltimore Technology Park, connecting the BTP data center directly to facilities reached by the core fiber network we own including private financial market data centers, key interconnection facilities in Ashburn, major content providers, government campuses, civilian agencies and MAX GIGAPOP and Internet 2 POPs,” said Joe Patton (News - Alert), SVP of Sales and Marketing at FiberLight.

Baltimore Technology Park owned by Enterprise Technology Parks is a state-of-the-art data center in downtown Baltimore. As a dedicated colocation facility, it will address the data infrastructure management needs of businesses.

The bundled offering will meet the demands for low latency interconnections between data center sites. Businesses will benefit from a solution that enables disaster recovery and business continuity in times of disruptions. The bundle will deliver high-bandwidth fiber connectivity for Internet needs between Ashburn, VA and Baltimore, MD.

“This partnership will offer businesses in the Washington, DC market a solid solution for their disaster recovery, business continuity and secondary data center needs,” said Jim Weller, CEO at Baltimore Technology Park. “The distance between Baltimore and Ashburn satisfies most geographical requirements for a secondary data center and the low latency of sub 5ms on FiberLight’s network backbone is ideal for synchronous replication.”

Baltimore Technology Park and FiberLight partnered for the provision of application and network agnostic bandwidth to interconnection points covering the Washington market from the Baltimore Technology Park.

All major destination points in the FiberLight network can be accessed for managed services and dark fiber solutions from here.

Recently, Ciena Corporation announced that FiberLight has deployed Ciena’s packet networking solutions to design mobile backhaul networks for two major US wireless operators.
