Icron's Extreme USB technology takes USB out of the desktop range of 5 m/16 ft. Icron USB extension solutions have the ability to cover a whole campus with up to 40 km (25 miles) over fiber optic cable, or up to 100 meters (330 feet) over UTP Cat 5 cable, powerline, coax and wireless technology (e.g. 802.11g/n).

Enhancing this technology, the company recently unveiled two USB 3.0 100-meter fiber extenders, named the Icron branded USB 3.0 Spectra 3022 and its OEM equivalent, the USB 3.0 SP3022.

These new extender systems reportedly provide support to USB throughput up to 5Gbps. They also improve USB 3.0 up to 100 meters and beyond on various fiber optics.

Along with compatibility with Windows (including Windows 8), Linux and Mac operating systems, both models are two-port USB extenders that make use of the ExtremeUSB advantages such as plug and play (no software drivers required).

Both models also provide two-year warranties.

Recently, the company added four new distribution partners to its European sales channel. The new distribution additions consist of Intronics BV in Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg, Intronics Spain in Spain, Syscomtec Distribution AG in Germany and Austria Via Design (www.via-design.fr) in France.

These new channel partnerships extend Icron's presence into incremental vertical markets and will improve its existing network of European distribution.
