It was a busy week in the Dark Fiber sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.
Sidera, a provider of high-capacity communications services and dark fiber to carrier and enterprise customers, has partnered with data center provider CoreSite Realty Corporation to offer connectivity between CoreSite (News - Alert) data centers located in Chicago, Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and Reston, VA. CoreSite customers will get access to over 40 financial exchanges thanks to the partnership.
In another story, LightPointe, a manufacturer of point-to-point Gigabit capacity FSO wireless bridges, has announced the Aire X-Stream Series. They are fast, low latency point-to-point radios and Free Space Optics wireless bridges. It is targeted to time/speed sensitive applications such as high-frequency trading and real-time military applications.
TMCnet also reported that LightRiver Technologies will upgrade Lee County, Fla.’s, critical communications network. The company has also designed and engineered Lee County’s Ethernet services network.
In addition, TMCnet’s Tabitha Naylor reported that Integra Telecom has introduced economical and easy-to-deploy dark fiber services for carriers, wireless providers, data centers and content providers. They’re targeted for wholesale customers and large enterprises in industries such as healthcare, government and education.
And QLogic has expanded its collaboration with Dell (News - Alert). QLogic’s 2600 Series Fiber Channel adapters will be used as part of Dell solutions to deliver end-to-end 16 GB fiber channel storage area networks. QLogic adapters will provide 16 GB fiber channel connectivity for Dell 12th Generation PowerEdge rack, tower and blade servers, as well as native 16 GB fiber channel connectivity for Dell Compellent Storage.
