Recently, Nissho Electronics successfully demonstrated the Infinera (News - Alert) DTN-X platform. Using production-ready super channels across 800 kms of ITU-T G.653 Dispersion Shifted Fiber (DSF), this exhibit now provides 8 Terabits per second (Tb/s) capacity.
The Infinera DTN-X P-OTN platform provides scalability, simplicity and efficiency in the digital optical network for the terabit age, and is created on the design principles of the highly successful Infinera DTN platform.
The DTN-X provides the next-step function in optical networking and features large-scale Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) and a built-in OTN (ITU G.709) switch with 1Gb/s granularity.
Facilitating dynamically protected mesh networks, it also provides and GMPLS-based network intelligence.
Providing long-haul 500 Gb/s super channels which feature world-class Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) compensation performance, the DTN-X platform provides software-configurable coherent modulation. This next-generation platform showed that it could successfully transmit 8Tb/s of super channel capacity on the C-Band.
This allows network operators to use current fiber plant investments and operate the latest multi-Terabit, long-haul next-generation WDM transmission technologies.

"This capability can be combined with our recently introduced Instant Bandwidth solution on the DTN-X to allow service providers to compete more effectively and achieve a success-based business model.”
Recently, the company announced that its DTN platform has been used by Colt Technology Services, an information delivery platform. According to the agreement, this product will make available 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) services to their customers across Europe.
Built with photonic integrated circuits (PIC), the Infinera DTN platform provides it with operational simplicity and scalability.
