InfoRelay Online Systems, a managed IT services firm and co-location provider, announced the expansion of its core network infrastructure in its Chicago data center, ORD1. This is mainly to meet the growing demand from mid-western software development and financial services companies, seeking high bandwidth network services like Metro Ethernet, high security, dedicated servers, and off-site backup. The company expands its offerings to national and local businesses seeking advanced managed IT services.

As reported by InfoRelay account executive Jason Randall, the software development firms are also rapidly expanding their presence in the Chicago area data centers to cater to the increased demands from the financial and software development firms. Recent natural disasters in Chicago and the ongoing fear of being in the Hurricane zone have increased the interest in co-location services from large and mid-sized software development companies. This has facilitated the expansion of InfoRelay Chicago data center, added Randall.

The ORD1 Data Center of InfoRelay is centrally located in downtown Chicago in the renowned Telegraph Building. Featuring a space of more than 180,000 square feet, the data center is all set to meet the increase in demand, and presently supports more than 35 Internet carriers and 80 networks. Besides, Chicago Board of Trade, the oldest options and futures trading exchange in the country, sits right next to the ORD1 data center. As stated by InfoRelay, the ORD1 data center serves the large and mid-sized financial trading companies operating in Chicago Board of Trade, seeking low latency, high bandwidth, and redundant network connectivity. In addition, the company has also indicated that it will provide direct Metro Ethernet network connectivity to businesses in Chicago and surrounding areas, allowing them to connect to the Internet or to their co-located equipment at a speed of 100Mbps, 1000Mbps, and 10,000Mbps.   

Many businesses opt to co-locate their core network infrastructure with the view that they are secured by backwater power systems like UPS or generator setup, and redundant network connectivity, as an important part of the disaster recovery plan that is expected to prevent the unwanted interruptions in services. In this context, Josh Abraham, director of Technical Operations, InfoRelay, stated that the company has years of experience in developing core redundant network connectivity systems. It works diligently to protect the customers from utility problems and natural disasters through redundant network connectivity. The aggregate network capacity of InfoRelay is more than 200 gigabytes per second, and is powered by 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit links. In ORD1 itself, companies in and around downtown Chicago have direct access to more than 80 networks within the data center.

Currently, the company has 18 redundant data centers, which include ORD1, and spread across the United States in markets like Los Angeles, Washington DC, Dallas TX, Ashburn VA, San Jose CA (News - Alert), New York NY, and Miami FL.
