Zayo Group (News - Alert), an international bandwidth infrastructure provider, has successfully deployed 100G wavelength services across major markets in the U.S.

This new deployment will enable Zayo customers to benefit from cost-efficient, high-bandwidth services between major U.S. markets. In addition, customers can utilize this new platform to keep up with growing bandwidth needs and provide operational and cost efficiencies over previous platforms.

"Zayo is a focused bandwidth infrastructure provider and upgrading along key routes to 100G technology is the next step in providing customers with the latest high bandwidth technology," said Zach Nebergall of Zayo's wavelength product group. "Additionally, the Zayo national network provides unique route options which enable our customers to take advantage of fiber path diversity between these core traffic aggregation locations."

Zayo has successfully connected over 10,000 buildings across the U.S. and Europe through net connectivity from its data centers, and has 136,000 square feet of colocation space. This includes 500 data centers, 500 Points-of-Presence (POP) and 2,600+ cell towers.

A provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure and network-neutral colocation and interconnection services, Zayo serves wireline and wireless carriers, data centers, Internet content and services companies, enterprises and government agencies. The company has also upgraded the long-haul and metro market networks, and it is now offering 100G Wavelength connectivity to major traffic aggregation points and IP nodes throughout the U.S.

Officials at Zayo said the 100G wavelength platform is already working in some locations, and the company will continue the deployed during the rest of 2012 and into the first half of 2013.

With its acquisitions of USCarrier, FiberGate and AboveNet, Zayo’s network includes 68,500 route miles, serving 45 states and Washington, D.C. Its network serves approximately 10,530 on-net buildings, including 535 data centers, 515 carrier PoPs and 2,743 cell towers.
