The new E-LAN Carrier Ethernet services from Integra Telecom (News - Alert) are slated to deliver multipoint-to-multipoint Layer 2 Virtual Private Networks (VPN) for multi-location customers.

Integra, a facilities-based communications services provider in the Western U.S., supposedly expanded its Ethernet portfolio with the launch of the E-LAN services, and the company claimed that its Ethernet services are one of the most advanced on the market today, providing secure, scalable and cost-effective solutions to optimize one’s business.

Joe Harding, senior vice president of marketing at Integra, said, “Integra’s E-LAN services offer medium-sized and enterprise customers a true extension of their corporate LAN across a wide area or metro network. Businesses looking to bring together all of their locations via a secure, reliable network will find that our E-LAN services offer exceptional performance with the flexibility to adapt to their private networking requirements and meet their budget.”

With Integra Ethernet services, users will receive reliable Ethernet connectivity for their business with Quality of Service (QoS) queuing to prioritize their business-critical traffic between their offices, irrespective of their location.

Users can make use of the E-LAN service to extend their existing network with multipoint-to-multipoint connectivity and manage their traffic to all of their office locations, easily increase bandwidth, and add new locations as their businesses’ needs grow.

Designed to be suitable for healthcare, financial services, retail, education and government industries, Integra E-LAN is supposedly certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert), delivering a transparent network for Layer 3 routing with provisions to retain control over any VLAN.

Notable features of Integra E-LAN include comprehensive Layer 2 Mesh connectivity, with bandwidths up to 10 gigabits-per-second; security of a private network; improved performance monitoring capabilities, with QoS and network traffic management; Web-based portal, letting users monitor, optimize and view graphical representations of their network; and more.
