Testing the integrity of a network will guarantee how it will perform when you go live with your product. Whether it’s a gaming application or something that will require an intensive customer interaction, it has to be tested and pass inspection.

The new HT 1000/2 is a high-performance, full feature, handheld compact tester for copper wire provisioning and maintenance technicians.
The unit can perform most of the 26 tests between the subscriber’s location and the central office of the technician at the push of a button. The water resistant unit has a ¼ VGA LCD screen with a powerful backlit design to work on any lighting environment. The 26 functions combine all the tests needed for a speedy and extensive testing when telecommunication installations or maintenance is being performed.
It’s capable of providing the certification for the physical layer of the telephone network, the xDSL transmission characteristics and the Home Phoneline Network Alliance (HPNA) data and video networks.
Some of the features of the HT 1000/2 include a noise finder via a 30 MHz spectrum analyzer, plus:
- AC or DC power
- A dual-trace time-domain reflectometer (TDR) with a range of 16,000 meters Incremental pair test program
- 200 pair pre-post test storage
- 7 user selectable auto tests
- Automatic Super Stress mode
- USB port downloads updates and uploads test results
Some of the tests it conducts include leakage, longitudinal balance, noise, power influence, resistance and voltage testing. The data can be stored on to a PC and used for review and future reference.
The unit can be powered with the rechargeable battery for four continuous hours of usage when it is fully charged.
The wideband spectrum analyzer of the unit can identify the type of noises affecting lines that are being tested. It can cover frequencies from 20 kHz to 30 MHz with noise amplitudes from -90 dBm (News - Alert) to + 10 dBm.
Noise is one of the greatest contributors of interference for networks, and the Super Stress mode of the HT 1000/2 can help identify short loop imbalances and recognize them in twisted pairs below 0 dB thresholds.
Additionally, it can expose damage or interference caused by corrosion.
