In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy ripped across the Northeast coast and created havoc all around. The states of New York and New Jersey were badly affected, but amidst all this destruction and chaos, there was something to cheer about.

Siklu's EtherHaul system survived the storm and Meridian Microwave, a Siklu channel partner, which provided the system to a New Jersey financial services company, reported the microwave link continued unbroken throughout the storm.

Gaby Junowicz (News - Alert), vice president of marketing and business development at Siklu, was concerned about the reliability of the system for the company as it runs a critical, 24-hour financial service business, and was glad and relieved that the EtherHaul system functioned smoothly.

"Along with the customer, we were delighted by the performance, not only in Hurricane Sandy, but also in a nor'easter storm that came in two weeks later," said David Theodore, president of Meridian Microwave, in a statement.

By using a generator for power, the financial services company, which services loans for banks, could still continue its business without any downtime, thanks to Siklu.

"It was a real mess here, and we were on generator at the main site, but never got any alarms that the dish link had any downtime at all. We were very impressed," said one executive with the company.

The company’s EtherHaul system, installed in operator and enterprise networks across the world, proved itself in a lengthy trial during India’s monsoon season in 2011 and withstood the even more severe Hurricane Sandy, admirably. Siklu lived up to its link availability claims without dropping a single packet.

The gigabit-speed EtherHaul radio is considered ideal for shorter-distance high-bandwidth connections where fiber is not available, and its small form factor, antenna size, center pole mounting kit- together provide a high level of stability.
