Aerohive Networks (News - Alert), a company that provides controller-less Wi-Fi and cloud-enabled networking solutions, recently announced that its WLAN solution has been selected by NEC Infrontia, a source of managed point of sale (POS) solutions.

NEC Infrontia (News - Alert) has deployed the system as the Wi-Fi infrastructure at the heart of its TWINPOS product line.

Aerohive WLAN solutions ensure the highest levels of network availability and resiliency, as network "self heals" around any failure points. Moreover, it eliminates need to cable APs to switches in difficult-to-wire locations and offers mesh features at no additional cost.

The solutions provide enhanced security above and beyond 802.11's inherent authentication and over-the-air encryption, including firewall, WIPS, VPN, RADIUS, and Active Directory support.

"It is critical for us to develop customer facing solutions that are of the highest quality, with advanced features, robust performance and scalability and are easy to deploy," said Seiichi Inoue, manager of i-Appliance development division, NEC Infrontia.

“After evaluating all the top wireless LAN vendors for our managed retail offering, NEC Infrontia believes Aerohive's WLAN product provides us with the best, most secure wireless network for our POS solutions to meet the demands of our retail customers," said Bill Hoppin, vice president of business development, Aerohive Networks. "Aerohive continues to see huge demand from retail customers for our secure, cost-effective, cloud-enabled Wi-Fi architecture.”

“The NEC Infrontia evaluation was rigorous and extremely thorough, and we are proud to have been chosen to be part of this compelling offering,” he said. “We look forward to enabling NEC Infrontia POS solutions, as their many thousands of customer sites upgrade to 802.11n.”

Last year, Aerohive Networks announced that Baggage Control Services Group (BCS), a baggage handling and logistics specialist and supplier of end-to-end solutions for the aviation industry, has deployed Aerohive to create a secure, collaborative virtual network environment for its distributed offices and project teams all over the world.

The solution was selected for its ease of management and ability to provide an integrated wired and wireless network that will cost-effectively support business growth.
