Centrally located between the U.S. coasts, the Chicago-metro market is important not only for its financial services, but also for content, cloud and media. Sidera Networks (News - Alert), which offers dark fiber, colocation and advanced network services, will extend its existing low latency network in the area to three Elk Grove Village data centers.

This extension, which delivers dark fiber and lit services from100 MB to 100 GB from Chicago to data centers in Elk Grove, IL, claims to interconnect three major data center facilities including Equinix (News - Alert) (CH3), DuPont Fabros Technology (CH1), and Savvis (CH3).

Apart from this, Sidera is also planning to connect Elk Grove, IL to Aurora, IL to complete a ring from Chicago to Elk Grove, down to Aurora and back to Chicago.

This ring is in close proximity of almost all major Chicago data centers; hence Sidera Networks can diversely connect enterprise customers to critical resources across Sidera’s footprint though the Illinois fiber network.

The provider of tailored, high-capacity communications services to large enterprise, carrier and data center customers is also planning additional network connectivity to data centers in Wood Dale.

The connections to data centers in Aurora, Wood Dale, and Elk Grove are pretty significant given that these facilities serve many financial institutions and media organizations that require high-capacity bandwidth, ultra -low latency and diverse connectivity.

“This expansion enhances Sidera’s network capabilities within the Chicago-metro market to deliver unparalleled high-performance connectivity not just to Chicago and Aurora, where we have network today, but also to data center parks such as Elk Grove and Wood Dale,” noted Clint Heiden (News - Alert), president at Sidera Networks.

It is also in keeping with Sidera's commitment to connect the most data centers throughout its network footprint.

Sidera Network joined hands with CoreSite Realty Corporation (News - Alert) to provide connectivity between CoreSite data centers located in important communications markets that consist of Chicago; Boston; New York; Washington, DC; and Reston, VA.
