GL Communications (News - Alert) Inc. has unveiled new Hand Portable Test Instruments which is very simple and easy to use and are designed to test real-time IP and Carrier Ethernet networks.

Since its inception in 1986, GL Communications has been offering unique, targeted PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry. It even provides customers with a wide range of easily-adapted, cost-effective, and highly-reliable products and services designed to aid the telecommunications engineer.

Among the newly released includes GL's PacketCheck which is designed to check frame transport ability, and throughput parameters of Ethernet and IP networks. This instrument can be used as a general purpose Ethernet performance analysis for 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1Gbps Ethernet local area networks.

The PacketCheck even utilizes network interface card (NIC (News - Alert)) in the PC to transmit and receive raw Ethernet packets over the network. Throughputs up to 500 Mbps can be easily tested.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Vijay Kulkarni CEO of the company said, “GL's handheld telecom test instruments are simple and easy to use and are designed to test real-time IP and Carrier Ethernet networks. They are portable, battery operated, rechargeable, and light.”

He explained, “GL's PacketShark is a handheld hardware that can tap packet networks, capture Ethernet packets at wire speed, i.e., in optical or electrical interfaces up to 1 Gb/s and selectively filter the captured traffic based on specified criteria.”

GL's IPNetSim Handheld is another new introduction which works as an hand-held battery operated instrument to simulate the real-time IP and Carrier Ethernet network dynamics by means of hardware controlled packet delay, loss, jitter, errors, bandwidth limitations, congestion, and duplication.

IPNetSim Handheld offers to manage network behaviors of up to 1 Gbps rates with accuracy always better than 1ms and is equipped with hardware based impairments generator, and dual GbE ports.

Mr. Kulkarni further added, “These handheld instruments are sophisticated bit error rate testers in a compact, handheld package and can test a wide variety of communications facilities and equipments.”

In related news, GL has introduced the addition of Channel Associated Signaling (CS) Protocol Emulator to GL's Message Automation and Protocol Simulation (MAPS) platform.
