EXFO (News - Alert) Inc,. in association with RAD Data Communications, has improved the interoperability of their mutual, end-to-end network tracking offering. EXFO's Brix Service Assurance solution was initially compatible with RAD's ETX EtherAccess Ethernet Demarcation device. EXFO’s solution for network provisioning, troubleshooting and maintenance is now also compatible with RAD's latest MiNID Service Assurance SFP.
In a statement, Claudio Mazzuca, VP, Service Assurance Division, EXFO, said, "The Brix solution allows operators to monitor their networks from end to end and correlates all the relevant metrics in one integrated system. In 2012, we developed the initial integration with RAD NIDs into the Brix System. That integration allows operators to leverage their embedded RAD devices with their existing or new Brix System to streamline operations and reduce both their OPEX (News - Alert) and CAPEX. Today, we are adding RAD's new MiNID SFPs to our integrated solution, further expanding the interoperability of the Brix System."
Operators are offered a comprehensive network tracking approach by the combined offering. EXFO's BrixWorx correlation and analysis engine, offering extremely scalable tracking and analysis, and Brix Verifier network appliances, are now merged with RAD's ETX EtherAccess demarcation devices, situated at customer location. Interworking with RAD network segregation devices and applications is possible with the BrixWorx offering. This EXFO solution therefore provides in-depth incorporation between the devices, facilitating increased visibility of the service and circuit performance at the client handoff or inside the core.
The joint offering provided by EXFO and RAD delivers powerful tracking and service-guarantee, facilitating improved visibility of the complete network and circuit performance. With improved network visibility, the number of network outages will decrease. The proactive tracking will also ensure that the degradations are uncovered before they harm the customers.
Amir Karo, VP, Business Development and Marketing, RAD, said, "With RAD's Service Assured Access solution, service providers can now build an entire access network or enhance specific segments of their network with MEF (News - Alert) CE 2.0-certified functionality, lowering their total cost of ownership while increasing revenues from SLA-based services. The combined RAD-EXFO solution offers a superior platform for service providers to reduce their operating expenses using a comprehensive and integrated demarcation and monitoring system."
