With the intent to offer fiber and traditional telecom services to various customers in Texas, United Network Services, Inc. (UNSi) recently forged a new network-to-network interface (NNI) agreement with Alpheus Communications (News - Alert), a provider of Texas metro-regional fiber and networking solutions.

With facilities in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley, Alpheus maintains and operates widespread fiber networks in Texas. The company has broad Ethernet service availability, reaching 129,000 Ethernet-qualified locations.

UNSi felt that Alpheus was the right to provide Ethernet services to selected customers including large enterprises that operate multiple sites across the country. Providing fiber backbone for Metro Texas, Alpheus is in a unique position to support mission-critical information technology functions and cloud computing solutions through its SSAE 16-compliant data center platforms for colocation and disaster recovery.

“When evaluating possible NNI partners in Texas, UNSi placed a premium on the network provider’s ability to extend our reach with a reliable network, delivering flexible and high-quality services, and Alpheus excels in all these areas with a stellar operational reputation,” said Stephen John, SVP and chief revenue officer for UNSi.

According to John, the combination of their company’s capabilities and Alpheus’ deep Texas footprint lets them expand their  managed services to meet the needs of our current and future customers, especially multi-site businesses adding office locations and employees in Texas’ favorable business climate.

The new agreement between Alpheus and UNSi demonstrates the rising development of enterprises with multiple locations to utilize a MPLS and Ethernet network for mission-critical applications, especially for hosted and cloud-based solutions.

“We are pleased to partner with UNSi and connect them to our high-quality fiber network as well as our numerous data centers and central offices that will help UNSi quickly expand in Texas,” said Alpheus senior vice president of carrier sales Chip Robertson.

UNSi is a next generation voice and data carrier serving enterprise businesses, SMBs and service providers to extend their network reach by leveraging UNSi’s national MPLS and Ethernet network.
