TeliaSonera (News - Alert), a provider of  network access and telecommunication services, recently announced that its subsidiary International Carrier (TSIC) has spread its network over 24,000 kilometers of fiber coast to coast in North America. The recent additions include the Dallas metro network as well as an additional point of presence in Washington DC.

“Like every expansion we do, the rationale for extending our North American footprint is quite simple – our customers rely on us for high performance connectivity so that they can meet ever increasing end-user demands for access to everything, anywhere, anytime”, says Brendan Ives, president, TeliaSonera International Carrier, in a press release.

TeliaSonera International Carrier claims that it owns and operates one of the world’s most extensive fiber backbones. The company works toward providing exceptional network infrastructure and services – empowering individuals, businesses and societies to execute their most critical activities.

Increasing high-performance connectivity to and from the greater Northern Virginia region TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) recently expanded its US presence to meet the growing demands of high-performance connectivity in the growing Northern Virginia market by connecting the EvoSwitch data center in Washington to its North American backbone.

The Northern Virginia region is a major growth area for content and application providers as well as global operators. This translates into an increased demand for high-performance connectivity. By adding the high-density colocation capabilities of the EvoSwitch WDC1 data center, TSIC is able to deliver greater connectivity and international reach to the region.

The agreement enables TSIC to deliver its portfolio of services via the EvoSwitch Manassas data center. This includes: IP, Ethernet, voice, mobile roaming and the next generation of IPX services. The two companies also work together in Europe, where TSIC has been providing high-capacity connectivity via EvoSwitch's Amsterdam data center since 2008.
