Unite Private Networks (UPN), which provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and services to schools, governments, carriers, data centers, hospitals, and enterprise business customers across a 20 state service area, has entered into a partnership with Lincoln-based video software company Hudl.

Hudl is a software company revolutionizing the way sports teams train and stay ahead of the competition. The company offers video distribution, play diagrams, coaching presentations and more, securely available to all coaches and players using its service over the Internet.

As part of the pact, UPN is providing Internet and point-to-point Ethernet data connectivity between its Omaha and Lincoln locations.

“UPN's advanced fiber-optic network will provide enhanced broadband capability to help our product team stay connected across multiple locations as they develop cutting edge coaching tools,” said Matt Mueller, VP - operations at Hudl, in a statement.

Thanks to the project, UPN will now be able to provide a point-to-point circuit connecting the existing Lincoln office to the new Omaha location. The new network increases bandwidth while minimizing monthly operating expenses.

"We were able to double our Internet bandwidth for half the cost," said Sam Howard, IT manager at Hudl.

Stuart Howerter, vice president of enterprise sales at Unite Private Networks said the company is excited to begin its relationship with Hudl.

Howerter said that UPN partners with high-tech enterprise businesses like Hudl, providing flexible solutions to meet their ever-growing bandwidth requirements.

“We provide a suite of products including Ethernet services from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps, wavelength services, Internet access, dark fiber, and other customized solutions,” said Howerter.

Earlier in April, Unite Private Networks had announced a major fiber network expansion connecting the Kansas City and Omaha markets.

The nearly 200 mile route will follow the I-29 corridor, extending north from Kansas City through St. Joseph, northwest Missouri, southwest Iowa, and ultimately connect to existing UPN fiber networks in Omaha, Lincoln and southeast Nebraska. Construction is expected to be complete by Q1 2015.
