Vitus Data Centers, a London-based provider of carrier neutral data center services, has announced the availability of Zayo’s high-bandwidth infrastructure services for its global customers.

A recent article appeared in datacenterdynamics.com reporting a deal between Virtus and Zayo Group (News - Alert). The deal will allow the London-based colocation and connectivity provider to resell a portfolio of Zayo’s high-bandwidth infrastructure services to its customers.

Virtus operates two data centers in London.  London1 facility is located in Enfield in West London, while the second facility - London2- is located in Hayes. The company reps informed that a host of Zayo’s services including dark fiber, wavelengths, SDH, Ethernet, and IP services will be available from Virtus’s London1 data center in Enfield.

Eventually, connection will be established between two of Virtus’ London data centers using Zayo’s services. Thus by the year end, London1 customers are likely to be able to connect with London2 data center, using Zayo solutions.

Zayo is a key player in global bandwidth infrastructure space. In fact the recent acquisition of Geo Networks, a London-based dark fiber provider, significantly added to its strength. It now reportedly controls a 100 route mile London network. These are the factors that have seemingly influenced Virtus to zero on Zayo. Thanks to the deal with Zayo, Virtus now has access to 77,000 miles of fiber in eight countries and connectivity to 650 data centers world wide.

“Zayo is a Bandwidth (News - Alert) Infrastructure leader with a growing international presence. Following the acquisition of the London-based dark fiber provider, Geo Networks, and taking control of the 100-route mile London network, VIRTUS Data Center customers will benefit from unparalleled access to anywhere in London as well as to over 77,000 miles of fiber in eight countries, and connectivity to more than 650 data centers worldwide,” CEO of VIRTUS Data Center Neil Cresswell explained in a statement.
