Cortina Systems (News - Alert), a supplier of integrated circuits for broadband communications, recently confirmed that the company’s Cortina CS8124 10G-EPON OLT and CS8160 10G-EPON ONU devices successfully completed end-to-end interoperability tests with Oliver Solutions' DPoE software stack.

Oliver Solutions is a provider of SDN/NFV based management software for access networks. This initiation involved the first chip-level interoperability of symmetric 10G-EPON devices based on DPoE specifications at CableLabs (News - Alert).

"Together with Cortina Systems, we are opening the door to a whole new era of fiber-based services enabled by DPoE specifications," said Gilad Aloni, chief executive officer at Oliver Solutions.

Tests included; Multiple LLID, IPv6 based provisioning, non-secure firmware upgrade, customer VLAN and service VLAN operations and IP HSD.

The Cortina Systems CS8124 Quad 10G EPON OLT is a quad 10G EPON OLT that addresses service providers' need for high density 10G EPON systems for volume deployment. The Cortina Systems CS8160 10G EPON ONU, together with the Cortina Systems CS8124 Quad 10G EPON OLT, provides system vendors a complete end-to-end 10G EPON solution.

"CableLabs is proud to facilitate these interoperability events so companies like Cortina Systems can drive the implementation of this technology into the market. This enables MSOs to deploy PON-based services with existing DOCSIS provisioning backend and processes," commented Curtis Knittle, Director at CableLabs.

With the successful interoperability, Oliver believes that the company has demonstrated that its software stack developed based on DPoE 2.0 specifications, running on both Cortina OLT and ONU devices, will now be in a position to offer MSOs a complete end-to-end provisioning solution of 10G-EPON with currently deployed servers.

Lup Ng, marketing director, Cortina Systems, also highlighted that the interoperability test has helped both the companies to create an ecosystem designed to accelerate the product development cycle and maximize revenue for our ODM/OEM partners and their end customers.
