Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC), provider of technical professional and construction services, has recently won new four years Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract from the Port Authority of Allegheny County in Pennsylvania. The value of the contract has not been revealed by the company.

The Port Authority’s 26.2-mile light rail system serves 215,000 daily riders and is an essential part of public transportation system.

As per the contract, JEC is responsible to provide professional engineering design services for light rail transit systems, power systems, field communication systems, system integration and start-up, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, rail and track systems, operating systems, operations control center communications, light rail vehicles, and value engineering.

Speaking on this occasion, Jacobs Group vice president, Randy Pierce, said that they are pleased to have this opportunity to leverage their light rail experience to deliver quality services to the Port Authority of Allegheny County, the people of Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities.

Since the company’s founding by Joseph J. Jacobs in 1947, JEC has gradually evolved from a one-man engineering consultant to the publicly traded Fortune 500 companies they are today. About two-thirds of the company’s consistent growth comes from organic expansion as they serve the changing and growing needs of their customers.

As a professional services company, it customizes teams to match client needs: finding the right people to develop the right solutions, and positioning ourselves in locations where clients plan to invest. Also, the company promises to offer relentless focus on safety, a commitment to cost-saving and sustainable solutions, and a strong and diverse range of suppliers worldwide to help their clients achieve their goals.

The company was recently in news for completing the acquisition of Federal Network Systems (FNS), headquartered in Ashburn, Va. FNS provides systems integration and communication, information technology and data security solutions for the global market, with particular focus on supporting the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, and federal civilian customers.
