Ethernet is well known for its ease of use and inexpensiveness and is quickly obtaining acceptance in Carrier networks. Suitable services OAM support (ITU-Y 1731 and IEEE (News - Alert) 802.1ag) is needed to be supported in the network while conventional SONET/SDH based technology in carrier networks is replaced by Ethernet. Also, in the core of the network, MPLS, being the predominant technology, is being positioned as the basis for Provider Backbone Transport (PBT) technology.
Recently, Veryx Technologies introduced the industry's first conformance test suite verifying Carrier Ethernet equipment for MEF (News - Alert) Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) specifications. For both MEF CE 2.0 Ethernet Access (E-Access) Services and Ethernet Subscriber Services, Veryx ATTEST-CTS (News - Alert) CE2 offers verification.
Recently, MEF had introduced Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (MEF CE 2.0), which had three standardized features: Multiple Classes of Service (Multi-CoS), Interconnect and Manageability. CE 2.0 identifies important new features of E-Line and E-LAN, and the addition of new E-Tree and E-Access services, all of which are fully verified by Veryx ATTEST-CTS CE2, the company stated in a press release.
“MEF CE 2.0 conformance testing presents equipment manufacturers and service providers a number of challenges when verifying combinations of enhanced UNI functionality and performance measurements in real-time scenarios for different service types." said David Charlu, CEO of Veryx Technologies. "The availability of Veryx ATTEST-CTS CE2 test suite with built-in automation and reporting capabilities is timely because it results in significant speeding-up of testing cycles and faster "time-to-market" for MEF CE 2.0.”
