Internet solutions company Internap Network Services Corporation has reportedly announced two new additions to its senior management team.
Scott Hrastar has been named senior vice president of IP services and will be responsible for leading business, engineering and product development initiatives for the company’s IP and Content Delivery Network Services product units. Robert Minnear has been appointed vice president of engineering and will drive strategy and execution across the Internap (News - Alert) engineering organization.
“Scott and Bobby bring to Internap a powerful combination of industry-specific experience along with a focus on driving sustainable profitability,” said Eric Cooney (News - Alert), president and CEO at Internap.
“What impressed us the most was that each has a demonstrated track record of combining technical expertise with leadership skill that will enable us to bring the best possible IP services and CDN solutions to market efficiently and profitably,” Cooney added.
With more than 20 years of technical and management experience in the IP networking industry, Hrastar has joined Internap, with prior experience as entrepreneur-in-residence at Georgia Tech University’s Advanced Technology Development Center where he provided counsel to many early stage companies. Hrastar is said to have handled responsibility in research and development as well as product and business management with global leaders in the technology, scientific and defense industries, including AirDefense (News - Alert) Inc., where he was founder, chief technical officer and senior vice president of product development.
Additionally, Internap stated that Hrastar has also held senior roles at Hitachi Telecom (News - Alert), Lancope, Pathfire and Scientific Atlanta, among others. Hrastar holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University and a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech. He holds 25 patents and currently has seven patents pending.
After leading engineering initiatives at Asankya, a cloud-acceleration services company, Minnear has joined Internap. With nearly 20 years of experience in the IP networking and CDN industries, Minnear has held numerous development and leadership positions, including overseeing the IP routing team at Ipsilon Networks, an early developer of tag (News - Alert) switching capabilities that were the precursor to MPLS routing. He founded Springbank Networks, and spent four years at Tall Maple Systems, where he led the development of application management platforms for Internet appliances.
Mennear is a holder of a master’s degree from Purdue University.
“The expansion of the senior management team with experienced industry executives like Scott and Bobby is part of a larger strategy to ensure that Internap continues to provide the innovation and solutions required to power Internet-based applications,” said Cooney.
