HiBeam to Deliver Internet and Voice Services to Underserved US Markets

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

HiBeam Internet & Voice is moving forward in fulfilling its vision of providing high speed Internet and voice options to the underserved markets in US. HiBeam Internet & Voice is a privately owned broadband and voice provider.

HiBeam is planning to bring broadband voice and Internet through WiMAX (News - Alert) wireless technology to the nation's tier two through tier five markets. In addition, HiBeam will deliver 99.999 percent up time, while becoming an integral part of the communities it serves. For this, the company announced its acquisition of licensed spectrum and its new management team as HiBeam prepares for its launch into multiple markets.

To focus on un-served and underserved markets, HiBeam has licensed 2.5 GHz spectrum in roughly 35-mile circles around the US markets of Texarkana, AR and Texarkana, TX; Peoria, IL; Mt. Vernon, IL; Topeka, KS and Joplin, MO. Combined, the spectrum will allow HiBeam to serve a population of 541,693 households and businesses that currently do not enjoy affordable and easy-to-use voice and Internet services. The new spectrum represents more than 47,436,873 million MHz/pops of spectrum availability. These leases will enable HiBeam to become one of the larger operational spectrum holders in the U.S.

The new management team at HiBeam consists of G. Michael Cassity, Chief Executive Officer; J. Keith Coker, Chief Technology Officer; Christopher J. Benyo, Chief Customer Operations Officer; Chip Gaskins, VP, Corporate Development and Spectrum (News - Alert) Planning; John Cerciello, VP, Market Deployment; and Marguerite Forrest, Administrative and Human Resources Officer. Forrest has extensive management experience in both the public and private sector and has served as the senior officer for corporate administration in three telecom start-ups

G. Michael Cassity, the Chief Executive Officer is the former president and COO of NuVox (News - Alert). Cassity had recently served as Chief Integration Officer for Telepacific Communications during its acquisition and integration of key assets of MPower Communications. According to Cassity, HiBeam is on the map with licensed spectrum. Also, significant seed capital has been raised to finance spectrum acquisition, back office build out as well as first market launches. As HiBeam starts to seek additional equity, it will be launching broadband Internet, voice and managed services to multiple markets throughout the United States.

The seasoned management team at HiBeam also includes J. Keith Coker, the Chief Technology Officer. Coker has recently served as Chief Technology Officer at NuVox, where he designed a network that brought services that were once designated solely for large enterprises to the small to medium business market. The Chief Customer Operations Officer, Christopher J. Benyo was serving as Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing for NuVox before joining HiBeam.

Chip Gaskins, the VP for Corporate Development and Spectrum Planning, has a proven track record in delivering wireless broadband to underserved communities. Gaskins led Corporate Development efforts at DigitalBridge Communications (News - Alert) before joining HiBeam. The VP of Market deployment, John Cerciello served as General Manager/Business Development for DigitalBridge Communications before joining the HiBeam team.
