Level 3 to Offer First-Ever Live Streaming of an SXSW Event

Level 3 Communications (News - Alert), a provider of fiber-based communications services, has claimed that it is going to offer the first-ever live streaming of an SXSW event – the Microsoft (News - Alert) BizSpark Accelerator.

Users can watch the event live or on-demand on the SXSW Web site and Level 3 has arranged for this facility using its Vyvx broadcast services and content delivery network (CDN). Microsoft BizSpark Accelerator at SXSW, a two-day contest that takes place during SXSW Interactive, is aimed at giving companies the opportunity to showcase pioneering or emerging technology, products or services to a crowd of industry leaders.

Level 3 Vyvx services offer acquisition and distribution video services for the media industry. Level 3 has claimed that they support client needs to transport broadcast-quality video content anywhere at any time with their 24 x 7 booking and customer care center, online Vyvx InView system, and Local Interconnectivity Directory, or “LID,” which is available to facilitate clients video transmission needs.

Level 3 Vyvx services are said to have gained prominence among domestic and global, full-service video transmission solutions for news, sports, entertainment and special events. Whether it’s a prestigious award ceremony, a major sporting event, a televised concert, a late-breaking news story or a corporate training event or announcement, Level has asserted that they treat every transmission with mission-critical care.

The Level 3 CDN is for better management of ever-changing challenges that the continuous growth and popularity of digital media has created for Web-based businesses. While traditional content delivery methods are less effective, more costly and risk less-than exceptional end-user experiences, Level 3 CDNs are stated to be powered by patented Footprint content delivery technology and stronger IP backbones.

Peter Neill, senior vice president of Content Markets at Level 3 has stated that they are a strong believer in the importance of technology innovation, so working with SXSW and Microsoft on an event designed to build awareness for new products and services was an ideal way to support that belief while showcasing the power of Level 3’s Vyvx and CDN services. By providing a high-quality interactive experience for the global online audience, they will help broaden the scale of this event and foster a larger community for sharing ideas.
