ManageEngine (News - Alert) has released OS Deployer, a remote OS deployment solution that enables organizations to capture an image of OS and applications that can be deployed to laptops and desktops rapidly and easily.

ManageEngine deals in low-cost enterprise IT management software and offers cost effective network, systems, security and applications management software solutions.

The new app simplifies and centralizes remote operating system deployment and helps companies to standardize the entire organization on a single/few OS, thereby reducing the support, training and management costs in maintaining them. Because the product uses disk imaging technology, it is ideal for rapid bare-metal installations and flexible centralized provisioning.

ManageEngine has stated that OS Deployer is primarily designed for SMBs, IT service providers, hardware retailers, IT departments of large enterprises and research labs. The enterprise features added to OS Deployer such as scheduled deployment, support for pre-installation environment, command line and scripting can help automate the tasks of the IT department in large enterprise environments.

Some of the key features of OS Deployer are: centralized disk image capturing; deployment templates for various roles/departments that enables easy deployment; flexible OS deployment options, like manual deployment, scheduled deployment, event-driven deployment, and so on; post-deployment customization of the OS and applications, like computer name, domain participation, etc; and automatically provision dissimilar hardware using a single image.

 

According to ManageEngine, the OS Deployer can improve productivity of a company and administrators can effectively handle all aspects of PC Lifecycle Management, from provisioning to retirement.

 

ManageEngine says that OS Deployer provides the ability to install a standard image to computers with different hardware configurations and at a scheduled time. The built-in Wake-on-LAN automatically boots the systems prior to deploying the images.

 

Mathivanan Venkatachalam, director of product management at ManageEngine, said in a release that OS Deployer is ideal for enterprises looking for a comprehensive and affordable desktop provisioning application. With centralized OS imaging and deployment capabilities, the software saves administrators’ valuable time and, combined with ManageEngine Desktop Central, the product offers a complete PC lifecycle management solution at a fraction of the cost of competing solutions, such as Microsoft (News - Alert) System Center, LANDesk and Altiris desktop management software.

 

The Desktop Central and OS Deployer combination is priced at approximately $30 per system, in a network comprising 500 computers on average, and is available to download at the ManageEngine site.

 

ManageEngine had recently released ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer and unveiled VQManager 6.2.
