As a part of the migration, Far East Telecom will deploy VocalTec’s Essentra Class-5 and Class-4 VoIP solutions across five distributed locations with initial support for tens of thousands of subscribers. As a result of the implementation, Far East Telecom will be in a position to offer innovative subscriber services and effectively manage the interconnection to its existing traditional telephony network.
Far East Telecom is working with Russian Systems Integrator Inline Telecom to implement the project.
In September, TMCnet
reported the 100th deployment of Essentra VoIP solution. VocalTec Essentra Large-scale Class-5 solution leverages innovative grid computing technologies to allow carriers to scale up to millions of subscribers through sharing of application objects across multiple servers. The solution offers a host of useful features including predictable/linear scalability, site redundancy, continuous availability, information reliability, as well as low response time and high throughput, officials said.
By leveraging VocalTec’s solutions, Far East Telecom will be assured of future network evolution to hundreds of thousands of subscribers. The fact that VocalTec boasts certification by the Russian Ministry of Communications further favors Far East Telcom’s choice.
"VocalTec is a respected provider of VoIP solutions in Russia and we are delighted to partner with VocalTec and value its extensive experience in building VoIP networks as well as supporting our deployment plans and schedules," said Alexander Pototsky, chief technology officer of Far East Telecom, in a statement. "VocalTec's VoIP solutions will allow us to quickly offer new services while benefiting from lower infrastructure costs. This will allow us to stay ahead of our competition."
“We are happy to have been selected by Far East Telecom as the core technology provider for its Next Generation Network,” Ido Gur, President and CEO of VocalTec, in a statement. “We are committed to supporting Far East Telecom today and well into the future as they continue evolving their network. This deployment, representing a major network transformation project, further demonstrates VocalTec’s unique position as a trusted VoIP provider across the region.”
