A provider of WAN optimization solutions for branch office consolidation and virtualization, Expand Networks, has been named a leader in independent research firm Forrester Research’s (

Alert) lately report titled, “The Forrester Wave: WAN Optimization, Q4 2009.”
The report has been put forward by Chris Silva and published on the Nov. 10, 2009, in efforts to analyze and assign ratings to suppliers based on such parameters as current product portfolios, market strategy and penetration.

Alert) scored highly on most of the parameters laid out by the research firm. It was ranked as one of the top scoring suppliers across the three criteria. Forrester named Expand as a leader based on the company’s performance in these parameters. Expand Networks also topped the rankings with regard to parameters of management and usability along with architecture. Its device installation time was among the fastest. One other vendor managed to match their device installation time of 66 seconds.

The report speaks well of Expand’s performance on key evaluation criteria. It states that Expand delivers high quality support for virtualized environments and unconventional installation setups, including that dependant on satellite-based WAN links. Expand has also tied up with several appliance providers in the satellite sector.
Expand has also among the best optimization architecture. Its architecture incorporates a number of different levels of transparency with or without tunneling. These include all their IP Layer 3 solutions and Layer 4 functionalities like storage architecture, client integration and deployment architecture. Because of its superior optimization architecture replete with the above mentioned unique features, Expand has made it to one of the top spots in present architecture offerings.
“Our focus on enabling branch offices and remote workforces to take advantage of these initiatives demands a solution that is feature rich yet easy to deploy, manage and use,” Davison said.
