Check Point Secures Consumers' Private Data with New Solution

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Internet security provider Check Point Software (News - Alert) Technologies has launched a new data security solution for consumers and small businesses with laptops and netbooks.

ZoneAlarm DataLock has been designed based on the feedback of a Check Point's survey conducted by Harris Interactive (News - Alert). The data of the survey indicated the requirement for a mainstream data encryption solution and this solution is hoped to address this need.

Check Point's survey showed that 56 percent of laptop users would be concerned about their personal data if the device was lost or stolen. Despite this concern, only 10 percent of the respondents said that they use encryption to protect their important files.

This solution operates in a simple manner and it can automatically encrypt all hard drive content in order to protect private and confidential data, in the event of laptop loss or theft.

You can easily avail this opportunity and begin to safeguard your data today through an easy download.

Check Point notes Jon Crotty, security research analyst at IDC (News - Alert) who said that data encryption has become a necessary addition to consumer security solutions because a large number of consumers use laptops and netbooks, and these gadgets are at high risk of being lost or stolen.

Currently, there is a significant gap between people who are concerned with data theft and the number of consumers who have taken precautions to protect their data. According to the survey, laptop users were concerned about the unauthorized access to private data if there device was stolen or it was lost.

Figures indicate that about 35 percent of respondents were primarily concerned about the hardware replacement cost. Bari Abdul, vice president of consumer sales at Check Point noted that it is very common for people to think about data encryption after their laptop is lost or stolen.

Abdul said that they are now offering ZoneAlarm DataLock that is an easy-to-use solution that empowers consumers to safeguard their critical and personal information before misfortune happens.
