Pearson Introduces Latest Version of Interactive Online Courses

By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor

Pearson, a learning company, has released the latest version of its award-winning suite of interactive online courses, CourseConnect 2.0.

It was during Cite 2011, Pearson's 12th annual higher education technology conference, that the company announced CourseConnect 2.0.

Winner of the 2010 CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Course or Learning Management Solution, CourseConnect courses, can be used as "plug and play" in any learning management system or customized to accommodate an institution's specific needs and term schedule.

CourseConnect 2.0 delivers a more streamlined, intuitive and engaging experience for students and instructors. It features an enhanced note-taking tool that ties student notes to a specific screen, interactive, topic-based presentations and redesigned media-rich lesson presentations, with new content-specific images.

Based directly on clear learning objectives, a team of respected subject matter experts, faculty advisors, course authors and e-learning instructional designers, has created course content.

With courses available in such subjects as business, criminal justice, computer science and general education, the CourseConnect library continues to expand.

In a press release, Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions, said: We've completely redesigned the CourseConnect library, based on the feedback of our customers and their students, to enhance teaching and learning and provide an economical, customizable solution for institutions looking to increase performance and control costs during these challenging economic times."

"I find this to be a great approach to presenting what can be complicated and detailed material in a clear, easy-to-understand format that encourages learning in all types of students and is an outstanding solution in bringing the classroom to the computer. The new features and extra resources, available at the click of a mouse, enhance the learning experience for both students and instructors," said Jan Domenico, instructor at Lone Star College-Kingwood.

In related news, Pearson has announced a money-back guarantee to schools for students who are not able to secure an 80 percent passing rate in classes taught by Florida Virtual Schools' certified teachers.
