West Virginia University Purchases Address Verification for Admissions

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

West Virginia University has purchased Experian’s QAS Pro Web On Demand for Hobsons Connect and ApplyYourself.

QAS Pro On Demand is an address verification Software- as –a- Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) model of QAS Pro Web.

Officials with Experian QAS said that the tool would reduce returned mail associated with inaccurate data entry and increase the reach of outbound communications.

"We want to make sure we are collecting accurate address information on every incoming inquiry at the undergraduate and graduate level," said Brice Knotts, director of student systems management, West Virginia University, in a statement.

"Instinctively we know this will reduce our returned mail and save us money. More importantly, we know having an accurate address will ensure desired materials reach students, allowing us to better turn interested students into enrolled students," said Knotts.

Hobsons, a major player in the recruitment, communication, and student success solutions for colleges and universities, is implementing the solution in the admissions department.

Company officials said that Experian QAS address verification will be used to validate all incoming student contact information as it is being entered, preventing inaccurate data from entering the school's database.

"In an increasingly competitive market, it's essential for admissions and enrollment professionals to reach and connect with students who are a good fit for their institutions," said Todd Gibby, president of higher education, Hobsons.

"Partnering with Experian QAS helps us fine-tune the communication strategy for institutions and ensure that schools reach the right students at the right time with the right materials," said Gibby.

David Northridge, vice president of client retention, Experian QAS, said that admissions departments rely on contact data for a variety of core functions.

"We are excited to be working with Hobsons to ensure prospects, applicants, and students receive desired communications and departments can operate more efficiently with accurate address information," said Northridge.
