Officials from Wizzard Media, a podcasting network, say they’ll exhibit their new Wizzard Media Player based on Adobe’s Flash technology at the 2008 New Media Expo, to be held in Las Vegas this week.
The show is an annual convention showcasing the industry’s professional pod casters, online video publishers and bloggers. The Wizzard Media Player is expected to attract video producers because of its functionality and customizable features.
The Wizzard Media Player includes several features suitable for producers and advertisers that will lead to increase in audience and advertising revenues. Launched in July in a beta mode, the Wizzard Media Player is now in use in content producer’s Websites across the Internet and is being used for advertising campaigns, according to the company.
The interactive advertising units of the media player can display advertisements and also transport audiences to advertiser’s Web sites.
The Wizzard Player helps content creators embed video imported from RSS feeds on Web sites, blogs and social media networks such as Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter. The player is customizable, streamlined and supports the latest video technologies with auto detection, offering high-quality feedback.
The Wizzard Media Player is expected to help monetize online video content as it is built using audience behavior statistics. Video views are integrated within the statistics on Wizzard Media’s hosting platform, Libsyn. Videos running advertising campaigns are captured and tracked with Nielsen NetRatings also for verification by a third party.
Individual episodes and entire shows can be distributed by producers making use of different versions of the Wizzard Player. One version has been designed for audiences to share video with their friends. Most of the aspects of Wizzard Player are “skinnable,” which means they offer options such changing colors to custom menu and button options.
The viewing experience has been enhanced by user controls and options like sharing through e-mail and embedded codes, company officials say. Other features include version selection (high resolution, low resolution, and HD when available), full screen and mouse-over.
The workflow process has been simplified for importing RSS feeds for use with the Player. After the completion of the initial step by the publisher, video files are distributed to embedded Wizzard Players over the Internet.
Dave Mansueto, a Wizzard technical futurist and co-founder of Libsyn, said that Wizzard offers the latest, cutting edge video technologies to video producers and their audiences without sacrificing backward-compatibility for legacy users.
