Dallas' Startup Community Aims to Retain Region's Top Technology and Engineering Talent at First "RoundUp for StartUps"
DALLAS --(Business Wire)--
Dallas' innovative technology and engineering startup companies are
coming together to host "RoundUp
for StartUps" - the first social recruiting event of its kind in the
region. The event will take place April 21st at Deep Ellum
Brewing Co. from 4 - 8 p.m.
Put together by the startup community for the community, this free, fun
and innovative networking event aims to match great companies with great
talent, with the first two hours dedicated exclusively to recruiting and
career networking, and the latter two hours focused on socializing and
networking for the broader startup community. At present 23 companies
are representing 95 competitively salaried positions; however, the hope
is to have 30 inventive startup companies on board that are looking to
fill nearly 100 jobs. RoundUp for StartUps is open to anyone interested
in joining a young and growing technology startup company, from recent
graduates to seasoned professionals. All attendees must RSVP at www.roundupforstartups.com.
RoundUp for StartUps is out to buck the unemployment trend and put
Dallas on the map as a vibrant community for startups that has a
plethora of jobs that need to be filled. Working to retain top talent
for the local startup community helps ensure the "next big thing" will
be a startup from Dallas, which will in turn benefit the local economy.
Two-time startup entrepreneur, Chris Gay, is the ring leader behind this
"roundup startup circus." Gay is launching his second startup, Zengine,
an enterprise cloud software provider for the insurance industry that
will debut Fall 2012. Working on his second startup, Gay realized one
thing:
"A pervasive problem exists in Dallas and the North Texas startup
market. We frequently lose our best and brightest software engineers and
tech talent to the West and East coasts. Dallas is a tech-savvy
landscape that is home to a growing, vibrant startup community that is
on par with these coastal markets; the tech talent and startup companies
just have not been introduced. This event will do that," Gay explained.
"The RoundUp for StartUps event is a perfect example of what we stand
for at Startup Texas," said Trey Bowles, chair of Startup Texas.
"Connecting entrepreneurs with local talent to help build high-growth
businesses is an integral part of what will continue to make Texas a
leader in the entrepreneurial landscape."
