A surprising new way to leverage Sonasoft (News - Alert) Corporation’s signature product for email archiving SonaVault, has been recently been revealed by the company’s engineering team. The archiving solution can now be implemented as an emergency email restore and recovery solution following a system maintenance breakdown.
The newly discovered function of the email archiving software is allowing customers to restore mission critical email hosting solutions following a severe malfunction. This has already helped a customer save 3,400 company messages that would have been otherwise lost.
“I just want to say thank you Sonasoft! We had a severe email server meltdown yesterday”, said Jay Bohannon, Information Technology manager for Western Partitions, Inc, in a statement. “Thankfully, SonaVault was there to save us!”
Sonasoft designed the email archiving software with non-proprietary archive stores of Microsoft (News

Bilal Ahmed, Sonasoft’s CTO and vice president of Engineering added, “Customers also benefit from SonaVault’s use of Microsoft Journaling mechanism to extract and archive email messages. This guarantees that every message that is sent or received through the Exchange Server is immediately archived even if it is deleted or lost on the Exchange Server.”
He further commented, “It’s reassuring to know that the fundamental technology and design underlining SonaVault Email Archiving Software is solid enough that it could act as an emergency Exchange recovery mechanism of lost emails and PST files when needed. A new use for our archiving software, in such an important function as email recovery, is always welcomed news.”
