Florida-based provider of identity management software and consulting solutions, Optimal IdM has announced a new product, called Virtual Identity Server for Office 365 (VIS for Office 365).

VIS for Office 365 has been designed to enable rapid cloud deployment for the organizations. The product also helps extend Office 365 by adding additional features and functionality, Optimal IDM clarified in a press release.

Containing a built-in cloud firewall, VIS for Office 365 makes a complete end-to-end solution allowing administrators to easily decide what data is synchronized to the cloud. This system helps prevent all user and groups from being synchronized to the cloud. Administrators can use the out-of-the-box reports or use their favorite reporting tool to mine this data.

The functionalities include synching users and groups, providing a cloud firewall that can filter or translate data as it is synched, as well as, providing complete audit logging, two-factor authentication and denial of service (DoS) capabilities.

With its advanced compliance and auditing capabilities, VIS for Office 365 automatically logs who authenticated, when, and with what claims to a SQL database.

Its powerful denial of service (DoS) helps detect and prevent an account from being locked. Alerts and emails can even be triggered to notify administrators that there has been an incident.

VIS for Office 365 is currently available and will be showcased at the upcoming The Experts Conference (TEC 2012) in San Diego, CA (News - Alert), the company revealed in a press release.

Jeffry Bohren, senior software architect at Optimal IdM, explained that “Whether you have multiple Active Directory (AD) Forests or use a directory such as Novell’s (News - Alert) e-Directory, VIS for Office 365 can quickly and easily take your users to the cloud wherever they reside. Multi-forest deployments can belong, complicated deployments requiring a resource forest. We eliminate this complexity by synchronizing users and groups right from the source data stores and likewise federating directly to them.”
