DITA Exchange powers structured content authoring, component content management and dynamic publishing capabilities to users of Microsoft (News - Alert) Office, Microsoft SharePoint and email hosting platform Exchange.

Recently, the company was named as a 2012 winner of Microsoft Corp.'s Life Sciences Innovation Awards. The award was given in recognition to the company’s efforts in helping Sanofi, a global and diversified healthcare provider.

Microsoft Corp.'s Life Sciences Innovation Awards honor companies using Microsoft software to develop innovative solutions that bring therapeutic breakthroughs to market faster and thereby fight serious ailments, improve healthcare, and enhance people's quality of life.

DITA Exchange has helped Sanofi produce clinical documentation deliverables with uncompromised compliance, consistency and quality. To implement the solution, the company partnered with ArborSys Group, a consulting services provider.

"We are honored by Microsoft's recognition of the value that DITA Exchange software brings to the SharePoint platform," said Ole Rom Andersen, CEO of DITA Exchange, in a statement. "In Life Sciences, the accuracy of documentation is literally a life-and-death matter, while speed-to-market can translate to millions in revenue per day.”

The DITA Exchange solution at Sanofi has quickly delivered a positive return on investment through direct time and cost savings. The solution has also helped to bring new therapies to market more quickly as it delivers real health benefits to patients, as well as significant revenue benefits to Sanofi.

Winners were selected by an esteemed panel of industry experts. The awards were announced at the Drug Information Association's (DIA) 48th annual meeting in Philadelphia.

"Now more than ever, the life sciences industry is faced with many challenges including cutting costs and bring new drugs and therapies to market faster," Andrea McGonigle, national managing director, Life Sciences, Microsoft added."We are impressed with how the winners demonstrate sustainable impacts through technology, and are proud that Microsoft's software plays an important role in enabling these achievements in life sciences."
