Safe Systems recently announced that its hosted e-mail exchange solution, SafeSysMail software, has been selected to replace the in-house exchange system at the Hazard, KY-based Peoples Bank & Trust.
In a release, Robert Porter, vice president and IT manager of Peoples Bank & Trust, said that, "Like any institution, our bank is crippled without e-mail. Safe Systems' support through the rebuild caused us to look closely at their hosted e-mail solution. We knew we needed to take the exchange server offsite in order to increase the redundancy that is critical to our bank's operation. In looking at different solutions to replace our in-house server, SafeSysMail proved to be the best fit, primarily because this solution is geared towards financial industry compliance - SafeSysMail is SOC 2 audited and adheres to GLBA and all FFIEC guidance, keeping our regulators happy."
At present, Peoples Bank & Trust’s seven branches are staffed with 110 employees and their total assets are valued at $275 million. However, IT support for all the branches is provided by a staff of two. The bank decided to look for a more robust software support after having experienced a significantly disastrous downtime due to their in-house exchange server failure. Safe Systems, however, was able to rebuild the exchange server at Peoples Bank & Trust within 48 hours without disrupting inbound e-mail during that entire period and also ensuring minimal data loss.
Robert Porter said that, "We anticipate saving upwards of $70,000 to $80,000 in hardware maintenance and upgrade costs over the next three years by moving the email exchange server to a hosted environment. We are happy to continue our partnership with Safe Systems and look forward to the added benefits from implementing SafeSysMail."
Based on the robust support provided by Safe Systems, the bank was prompted to shift the complete system offsite via SafeSysMail. Furthermore, the bank also decided to go forward with deployment of Safe Systems' legal archiving and enhanced e-mail encryption to ensure improved compliance posture, as well as security and overall back office efficiencies.
