Discover Technologies, a provider of email hosting solutions, has recently received a five year, $40,000,000 contract from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in order to power Microsoft's (News
- Alert) SharePoint 2010 platform as well as optimize supporting technologies including Fast Search, Exchange, Active Directory and System Center Configuration Manager.
Microsoft SharePoint is an effective tool for email hosting, sharing and collaborating. Organizations that leverage this robust offering are able to build custom applications and components to rapidly respond to business needs.
"The technology needs of this initiative fell right within our strong suit," said Discover CEO Dave Truitt, in a statement. "We are delighted to have the opportunity to positively impact the FDA's mission around protecting the public health."
With the successful completion of this contract, the FDA will be able to gain access to an enterprise-wide unified communications platform that will support real-time collaboration, seamlessly integrated with the desktop to support their mobile global workforce.
