Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange is a widely popular email hosting solution that is known to improve productivity in businesses. Recently, the company unveiled the Exchange Server 2013, which is touted as the most powerful e-mail server on the market with the ability to support up to eight terabyte disks and multiple databases on each disk.

In a significant development in the email hosting space, CTM (News - Alert) revealed it has just expanded its Office Anywhere cloud offerings to Macau. Touted as a cable and wireless communications business, it launched its first cloud service offering earlier this year in collaboration with Cisco (News - Alert).

The cloud-based service enables small and medium-sized businesses to manage their businesses when away from the office. Office Anywhere was jointed developed by Microsoft and Laxino Technology Limited, a Macau- based software house. In addition to email hosting, the Microsoft Exchange-based platform allows users to manage contacts, calendar, documents and desktop tasks anytime anywhere. In addition, the offering features Microsoft SharePoint to enable online file sharing, creation and editing.

CTM provides customers with ongoing support including managing a firewall, 24-hour monitoring of customer sites, installing spam and virus protection updates and backing up any information stored.

“We are Macau’s leading telecoms company and this is an opportunity to supply value added technology services to enterprises with whom we already have a good customer relationship,” said Declan Leong, vice president, Enterprise Business for CTM, in a statement.

“It’s early days for cloud computing, but we are taking the opportunity to learn about the requirements of our customers and ultimately cement our position in the future market,” Leong added.

CTM’s enterprise revenue grew by nine percent from 2011 to 2012. By expanding its footprint into Macau, the company will gain access to an estimated 20,000 SMEs in the region.
