Mimecast has released completely enhanced cloud archiving capabilities, allowing end users to access their personal collection of documents from their preferred email client or mobile device. Mimecast has also unveiled file archiving, which allows users to sift through their archived documents right inside Outlook, Mimecast Personal Portal or via an iPad.
All the user documents either stored in email, Box (News - Alert), Dropbox, SharePoint, network shares or home drives can be viewed using Mimefiles, the latest iPad app from Mimecast.
The custom iPad app, Mimefiles from Mimecast, will be available at the Apple (News
- Alert) App Store in November.
Files from SharePoint, Box, Dropbox, network shares and home drives can now be archived with Mimecast File Archive. An enhanced incorporation between SharePoint and email has also been released by Mimecast, allowing users to rummage around their email archive from inside SharePoint, or their SharePoint documents from Outlook.
Users are also provided complete access to their whole archive history inside Outlook with Mimecast Services for Outlook Version 4.
In a statement, Grant Hodgkinson, product director for Unified Email Management at Mimecast said, “The archive is now so much more than just a dusty data store. We see it as a highly available, highly secure, but most of all incredibly useful source of information for IT professionals and their end users. And not just for occasional eDiscovery cases but for day to day interactions. The Mimecast archive can now store more than just email, but perhaps more importantly we’re providing users with the tools to be able to find what they need, quickly, in ways that suit their personal preferences, whether they are iPad users or Outlook junkies.”
“In short, archiving is not just about what goes in; it’s how useful it is when it comes out.”
Users can also make rapid decisions by sifting through their chronological email folders or utilizing the archive search feature of Mimecast. Users can locate emails and files in their personal archive with Mimecast Personal Portal.
This Web mail portal allows users to administer their permit/block lists and send and receive emails in case of a mail server outage.
