Intermedia (News - Alert) is a cloud service provider and has been one of the major proponents of cloud-based email hosting. The company provides an Office in the Cloud with Exchange offering that promises near perfect uptime, mobile device compatibility, and other benefits. With the release of Exchange, Sharepoint, and Lync 2013, a slew of new features will now be offered to users in addition to typical email hosting functionalities.

On the Exchange side of things, Intermedia improved its overall mobile experience. The new Windows 8 style improves usability on smartphones and tablets with a more streamlined layout. Users will also have access to some content even if they are offline. The Exchange calendar has been simplified and contacts are now in sync with your social media contacts as well.  Helping consumers leverage social media platforms, there are even e-mail plug-in apps such as LinkedIn (News - Alert) available in order to create more dynamic e-mails.

Like Exchange, Lync 2013 has also added some streamlined features such as a new hover bar that allows for one-click interactions and tabbed conversations that let you manage multiple chats with pop-out/pop-in functionality. A simpler method of going from text chat to video chat is powered in addition. Users will also be able to host video conferences as well as preview their video feed to make sure they are making a good impression.

Moreover, Sharepoint 2013 will also sport the Windows 8 style for an easy-to-use experience. There is a dramatic improvement in extending capabilities due to the fact that with an App Store model, users can add necessary features without having to send requests to IT. A simplified system with site permissions is also encompassed in this suite which will ideally cut back on the amount of troubleshooting.

This newly enhanced portfolio will contain the great email hosting functions that Intermedia has supplied in the past, but with some much needed bells and whistles.
