Should You Upgrade Your Email Hosting Service to Outlook 2013?

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

It seems like Microsoft (News - Alert) has been talking about the 2013 versions of its suite for several years now, but in fact it hasn’t been all that long since it started unveiling the update. Among the many great features that are coming with the new Office is of course an email hosting service known as Outlook 2013. Outlook, in general has long been the big wig when it comes to email hosting services and enterprise level companies in particular have long leaned on Microsoft and Outlook when it came to an array of e-mail-related needs.

With the upcoming release of Outlook 2013, is it worth upgrading a company’s e-mail infrastructure? The answer is a big yes, as long as you do it the right way.

While Outlook 13 is not a particular difficult email hosting service to get installed and up and running, every enterprise company knows that safety and security is always going to be an issue in the business world. The first plus of this particular update is that Outlook 13 has a much cleaner look than in the past. Thanks in large part to Windows 8; using Outlook to send and receive as well as view e-mails is quite a bit easier simply because the interface is less cluttered.

One of the cooler features of this particular email hosting program is that you can reply quicker than in the past by a large margin. Instead of hitting the reply button, you can simply start typing in the message and the program will recognize that you are attempting to either forward or reply to it. Of course, you can still do it the old school way as well. There is also a “peek” function that allows you to pull up a preview version your Outlook calendar from within e-mail without having to actually change views. This comes in handy when you are about to send someone important information about a meeting, in particular.

Moreover, there are a ton of other new tweaks that make this offering continue to be touted as cream of the crop, but if you are running an enterprise level business, there are still plenty of incentives to work with an expert to make sure you are moved to this new version safely and securely. Sherweb’s Hosted Exchange 2013 is one solution that will get you moved over quickly, complete with great support and knowledgeable experts that boast tons of expertise in the field.
