AECI Helps Soarsoft Migrate to MS Exchange 2010 Email Hosting Platform

Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange is one of the most common email hosting platforms used by companies across the world.

Soarsoft Africa, a company that provides email hosting and migration solutions, recently helped AECI Group of companies, which specializes in explosives and specialty chemicals, migrate its messaging platforms to Microsoft Exchange 2010.

Soarsoft Africa has extensive expertise in multiple messaging platforms. The company was selected for the standardization and migration of the entities in the specialty chemicals portfolio to Microsoft Exchange 2010, providing a single platform for its South African operation.

AECI, a South Africa-based company, selected Microsoft Exchange as its email hosting platform as part of its plan to expand to other countries including South America and South East Asia. The company recognized it would gain by standardizing the heterogeneous messaging platform across the various business entities, into a single platform that would drive down costs and allow for a better delivery of messaging, unified communications (UC) and collaboration services.

“We needed a combination of the very best migration tools, and all our experience and expertise with this project, especially in light of the tight deadlines and complexity that a distributed environment with independent companies and IT departments posed,” said Chris Hathaway, director at Soarsoft Africa.

By migrating to Microsoft Exchange 2010, AECI will also leverage its existing Microsoft investments in SharePoint and then extend these benefits with the rest of the Microsoft ‘stack’ through integration into Lync Unified Communications (News - Alert) services (UC).

“Despite the fact that this was a challenging migration project, Soarsoft was able to complete the head office migration successfully over a weekend, which meant we experienced minimal impact on the organization,” said Darryl Tarr, IT manager for the AECI Group. “Effectively, AECI staff left their offices on a Friday and returned to work on Monday to a new messaging platform, with no disruption.”
